Lungs for Lynn!
Donation protected
Hello everyone! Thank you for your interest in supporting our father and family in our time of need.
This page was made for Lynn Cole Parker Jr, who recently underwent double lung transplant at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill after developing idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a rapidly progressing lung disease. The GoFundMe has been set up to assist with medical expenses during this time, as insurance has left a significant gap in the cost. The expenses include the initial surgery, hospital stay for 2-3 weeks, and typically 3 months of physical and pulmonary rehabilitation. We are asking for a $10 donation from everyone who sees this page, as it will allow us to focus more on healing and less on the stress of medical bills.
About Lynn-
Lynn Parker is 70 years young and a very active person (before his lung disease). He grew up in eastern NC and went to UNC Chapel Hill where he was a starting pitcher for the baseball team. After college he joined a band and traveled the country playing rock and roll. One of his bands, Sutter's Gold Streak, recently reunited and he continued to play/sing until a few months ago (over 50 years). Along the way, he has been an incredible father to us (James and Jessica) and we are trying to return the favor and take care of him now.
How will lung transplant help?
Lung transplants (on average) extend a patient's life 6-7 years. This will allow my dad to continue to brighten everyone's day, return to the stage to play and sing for years to come, and enjoy the life that has been miserable in the past few weeks due to his lung disease. (Most of the pictures below were taken within the past year, and notice he is not even wearing oxygen).
What if we exceed our goal?
Any donations that exceed our needed expenses will be donated to Donate Life, a non-profit transplant organization that will allow others to enjoy the gift of life as well. https://www.donatelifenc.org/
