El 2 de mayo de 2023, mi hermana, Mariana, fue llevada a John Muir en Walnut Creek debido a lo que pensamos que era un ataque de ansiedad. Después de ser admitida en John Muir y examinada por sus médicos, fue diagnosticada con encefalitis. La encefalitis es una enfermedad que provoca inflamación en el cerebro debido a una infección [bacteriana o viral]. Recibió tratamiento en John Muir durante aproximadamente 2 semanas, pero luego la transfirieron al Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, ubicado en Palo Alto, CA, donde se ha ido recuperando lentamente desde entonces. Su recuperación ha sido lenta pero ha mostrado un gran progreso. Todavía no sabemos cuánto tiempo más estará allí. Y cuando le den de alta, deberá asistir a fisioterapia, por lo que, por supuesto, lo más probable es que aún necesite la ayuda de mis padres. Ni mis padres ni yo trabajamos en este momento debido a todo lo que está pasando. Mis padres se quedan en el hospital con mi hermana mientras yo me quedo en casa para cuidar a mi hermano de 15 años ya mi hermanita de 8 meses, así que también he pospuesto el trabajo. Han sido 2 meses muy duros pero estamos saliendo adelante. Pedimos de su ayuda, aunque sea simplemente compartiendo o donando lo que pueda. On May 2, 2023, my sister, Mariana, was brought to John Muir in Walnut Creek due to what we thought was an anxiety attack. After being admitted to John Muir and examined by her doctors, she was diagnosed with encephalitis. Encephalitis is a disease that causes inflammation in the brain due to [bacterial or viral] infection. She received treatment at John Muir for approximately 2 weeks, but was then transferred to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, located in Palo Alto, CA, where she has been slowly recovering ever since. Her recovery has been slow but she has shown great progress. We still don't know how much longer she will be there. And when she's discharged, she'll need physical therapy, so of course, she'll most likely still need my parents' help. Neither my parents nor I work right now because of everything that is going on. My parents stay in the hospital with my sister while I stay home to take care of my 15-year-old brother and 8-month-old sister, so I've also put off work. It has been a very hard 2 months but we are moving forward. We ask for her help, even if it is simply by sharing or donating what you can. We are grateful to all of our friends and family who have helped us or those who have simply asked how my sister is doing. Thank you all in advance for everything.
