Help Send Ewan to Rehab

Hi! My name’s Ewan Galloway. I’m 44 and live in sunny Kendal in Cumbria. I’m a joiner by trade, a lover of the outdoors (especially hill walking and kayaking), a half-decent hockey player and a distinctly average golfer. I’m a son, a brother, a friend to many, but I’m also unfortunately struggling with alcohol addiction.

I desperately want to get better and need a helping hand to get back on my feet. I’m committed to recovering and am currently attending weekly support group sessions, and twice-monthly meetings with a recovery support worker. But it’s hard, really hard, and am in the grip of a vicious cycle that I need help to break free from. Unfortunately the NHS are unable to offer any kind of treatment and I am not on any waiting lists (the criteria for getting on a treatment waiting list is kidney and liver failure, which I’d rather avoid if possible).

How your donation will help

I would like to attend a residential inpatient programme at The Pavillion treatment centre in Lancaster to support me in my recovery. The cost is £300 per day and the minimum stay is 7 days to go through a medically-assisted detox (so £2100 in total). In an ideal world I’d love to stay for more than 7 days to give me the best chance of a full recovery. This would involve one-to-one and group therapy sessions in a supportive and compassionate environment, including things like trigger prevention and relapse prevention therapy.

Any donations to help me access treatment, no matter the amount, either publicly or anonymously, would all be hugely and eternally appreciated.

This is my first ever GoFundMe, so I hope I’ve included everything you need to know, but if you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks for reading,

Ewan

OPTIONAL

This paragraph below is to add in if you want to. Now that I’ve thought about it I actually don’t think it’s a very good idea – it just adds pressure on you. You can always offer it afterwards to people you know if you want to and you’re able to.

I would be more than willing to repay the kindness for any donations from anyone in the local area with some labour. (I’m a joiner by trade, but happy to do odd jobs like mowing your lawn, painting your shed or washing your windows.) I could exchange a day of rehab for a day of work, or half a day for half a day, etc. I would hope to be able to do this within a year of recovering (I’d love to repay everyone straight away but need to pay my bills and clear my debt in the meanwhile).
