Ophie's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
I am writing this for my sister, Ophie, who lives in the Philippines with her 4 kids. She'll be turning 50 this year.
She was diagnosed early this year to have Cervical Cancer Stage 2B. Unfortunately, her condition has worsened over the last few months.
Medical treatments and medicines were given and taken soon after she found out about her sickness. Her body didn't take it well even from the very start. She lost her appetite, vomitted, felt nauseous & had diarrhea. In addition to that, a decrease in her hemoglobin level was noticed which resulted in blood transfusions and delays in her Chemotheraphy sessions. Shortly after that her Potassium level dropped so there was another delay on her Chemotherapy sessions. Even the Brachytherapy which was her other hope to cure her cancer was put to a stop when she started to develop cough. She was then brought into the hospital for profuse coughing. Little did we know it had already turned into Pneumonia. She spent 2 weeks in the hospital for this but was admitted again to another facility because the cough did not completely go away. This time she was immediately admitted at the ICU because her blood pressure had dropped to a serious level. In the course of 4 days, the 7 doctors attending to my sister ordered different tests and scans and gave several medicines. On the 5th day we had a meeting with all 7 doctors and were told that aside from Pneumonia they found a cavity on her lung which indicated Tuberculosis (TB). On top of that, her cancer has mastasized to her bones and lungs but no further treatments on her cancer can be done until the Pneumonia and Tuberculosis have gone away. My sister spent 10 or so days in an isolation room after her blood pressure had normalized. Up to this writing, my sister is still coughing, taking medicines for the Tuberculosis, and the cancer has now spread to her liver as well.
Before this happened, she was enjoying her job at one of the leading life insurance companies in the Philippines. She has received multiple awards and perks as a Financial Consultant. Somehow after a few rounds of Chemotheraphy, her body got weaker and prone to other illnesses which prevented her from working and being able to provide for her family. Hence, her financial problems worsened. Her health insurance was able to cover some of the initial hospital visits, medicines and professional fee bills, but unfortunately the rest were shouldered by us, her family. Now her insurance benefit has been consumed, and we've exhausted our resources and are faced with debts as a result. Family and friends have helped along the way but it's still not enough. And it's not over yet because she's under Palliative Care now.
Any and all donations are appreciated. Everything I collect in behalf of my sister will be sent directly to her to help with medical bills and medical treatment costs. For those who are unable to donate, all I ask is that you keep my sister, Ophie, and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
