Camps International - Costa Rica

Hi, my name is Louie Church.

I am really excited to share with everyone that my school has relaunched their Camps International Expeditions.

In 2025, myself and some fellow classmates will have the opportunity to travel and support communities in Costa Rica who have very little resources and money to afford their needs, by helping to build things like schools and houses.

This is a 28 day expedition where we will be working in local communities and then experiencing an 'adventure' opportunity where we can gain our Open Water SCUBA qualification.

The beautiful and biodiverse remote rainforest of Costa Rica will become my home on this expedition and I will be working alongside conservationists to protect the environment. We will be learning about innovative and sustainable ways to protect the environmental issues and lead projects to support the environment, wildlife and community and also broaden my perspective of the world, push my own personal boundaries and step outside my comfort zone. This expedition will enable me to meet and exceed my academic and personal potential , develop valuable life skills and gain key extra-curricular experience which will be highly regarded by universities and employers, all whist helping others.

But this cannot be done without your help, as I need to raise the money to fund this trip.

In the coming months, I will be creating various fundraisers and sponsored events in the hope that some of you will be able to donate and help me reach my target of £4980. I know this is a lot of money and that times are tough for everyone, I will genuinely be so grateful for any amount no matter how big or small.

I will be creating leaflets to hand out around my area offering my services on things like mowing grass, washing cars, gardening, dog walks etc. If there are any jobs you would like me to do, please get in touch.

I will also be planning a sponsored bike ride from Wroughton to Avebury and back (approximately 17 miles) alongside some family and friends, all dressed as animals. I will be - no joke - an inflatable cow.

Every penny earned from these events will be going towards my target for Costa Rica.
