The Peters Family

Hello, my name is Maria and I am fundraising for my little sister Pilar Peters and her family. Pilar's story began when she learned she was pregnant with triplets last year. However, what was a joyous occasion suddenly became her biggest life challenge. In December of 2022, doctors discovered a lump on one of the triplets. As a result, the baby boys, Theo, Milo (identical twins), and Luca (fraternal) were born through emergency c-section on December 27th, 2022. After testing the mass, Pilar and her husband Riley learned Theo's mass was diagnosed as terminal stage four sarcoma cancer. On January 31st, 2023, at one-month-old, Theo passed away. The day after Theo’s passing, Milo (Theo's identical twin) was diagnosed with stage two sarcoma cancer. In an incredibly rare finding, it was determined that Milo’s tumor was a metastasized site from Theo’s cancer since they shared a placenta in utero. After discovering Milo had cancer, the doctors tested both Luca and Pilar. Thankfully, both Luca and Pilar continue to test negative for cancer and will continue to be monitored as appropriate.

It has been extremely difficult to see my sister and brother-in-law in excruciating pain in what would traditionally be a happy time. Together, they have pressed through their grief to provide for their babies navigating the twists and turns of Milo’s anticipated 7-month treatment plan.

Pilar's husband is a high school associate principal and has exhausted medical leave and has returned to work. Pilar will be returning to her work in June. I recognize this extenuating circumstance will bring challenges they cannot anticipate. I am starting this GoFundMe page as an effort to share their story and garner funds that can help alleviate these unexpected medical expenses, support cancer care for Milo, and much more.
