**UPDATE** 8/19/24
While there is still a long journey ahead, everyone is thrilled to announce that Emily is finally home as of Saturday, July 13th! Her home has been modified with several accommodations to meet her new needs and help her navigate her way around her home, including strategically placed handrails and a chair lift. Emily is currently attending physical and occupational therapy, working hard to regain her ability to walk, albeit differently than before. Despite persistent pain in her arms, wrists, and hands, Emily's optimistic attitude drives her to push through challenges.

Recently Emily was cast for her prosthesis, which will take about a month to complete. In the meantime she uses a wheelchair and walker to get around and is relearning everyday tasks like putting her hair in a ponytail, showering, making lunch and cleaning the house. Day by day, Emily is slowly adding in more time with the boys since she has been home, even though it is no where near what she is used to, and misses them like crazy!! Everyone is incredibly proud of her progress, especially considering how close she came to being lost. The pictures truly show her determination and strength.

What many of you may not know, is that during Emily's battle, her father, Tom, was also fighting his own. At the time of Emily's accident, he was waiting for the call to receive donated lungs. Just days after Emily's accident, he received that call and traveled to the Cleveland Clinic for a successful double lung transplant. Supported by Emily's mom, Barb, Tom spent time recovering in Cleveland. Their love and determination pushed them through, and after a 2 month recovery period away, both Tom and Emily came home the same weekend, reuniting as fighters who have endured so much.

The family celebrated their homecoming on Saturday, July 20th, with a visit from Emily's brother Jake and his family, along with other close friends and family who have been tirelessly supporting Emily through the accident and the changes that it brought with it. The celebration was a testament to life, miracles, and God's grace. Though Emily has many hard days, she finds comfort in knowing that God is with her every step of the way.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who has donated, prayed, reached out, brought gift baskets and food, provided information, prayed some more, and helped in any way!! The family is so grateful for this amazing community of wonderful people in Emily and Tom's lives. Life looks different now - simple tasks take longer, and some days are very hard. But they are thankful to be alive, to continue this journey, and to enjoy their family and friends. You never know what can happen in an instant, but with the power of prayer and faith in God, they know they will make it through.

Thank you again, for all of the messages, donations, time and prayers for the family during this life-changing season!!

**UPDATE** 6/2/24
First off, on behalf of Emily and her family we want to share a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated and/or shared their time and resources to this amazing family. Emily is so grateful and so moved by the outpouring of support for her and the boys.

Emily has transitioned from Parkview Hospital to a physical therapy rehab facility and continues to work on regaining her strength back in her arms and legs. She continues to need a lot of support so this will be her new home for a number of weeks. Thankfully, her boys come to visit often so this definitely helps to lift her spirits! She has a long journey ahead, but with the help and support of this amazing community and most importantly, the Big Man Upstairs, she will make it through, one day at a time. Thanks again and we appreciate the continued thoughts and prayers for healing, strength and recovery!

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

(5/26/24) Our Emily, the amazing mother, the faithful daughter, the loyal best friend, doting nurse, crazy big sister, workout champion, Christ follower, and so much more, was involved in a terrible car accident on Friday, May 10th. This accident will change the course of her life forever and we are asking for your help to support this amazing human and her family in their upcoming journey ahead.

This accident almost took Emily’s life, but by the grace of God, he decided that she had so much more to do here on earth. She spent many days in the ICU and unfortunately, lost much of her right leg to save her life. She is still in the hospital and has endured many other injuries in the accident, such as compound fractures to both arms and legs, a neck injury, broken rib, and more. Emily’s busy life with her 2 young boys has been put on hold and will be forever changed. We are so incredibly grateful that God kept her with us, intact with that quick wit and sense of humor that defines her ❤️ If you know Emily, you know that she deserves all of the help and support our community of wonderful friends and family can offer to offset the financial burden of what is to come. We are asking for whatever you have in your heart to provide, any small donation is so incredibly appreciated. Thank you for your support to this amazing woman and her family, who is loved so dearly by all ❤️
