Honouring Desiree’s Memory: Help Us Lay Her to Rest
Donation protected
It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my dear friend Desiree, who lost her battle with addiction on April 1st. After years of struggle, Desiree is now at peace.
For the past seven years, Desiree faced the harsh realities of homelessness. Sadly, she didn’t have arrangements in place for when this day came. As a family, her siblings and I are now stepping in to handle the necessary arrangements, though we are doing so without much support.
Desiree and her siblings were raised in a kinship agreement, not by their parents. Their grandmother, Virginia, was their primary caregiver until she moved into long-term care six years ago. With so little help, the responsibility to ensure Desiree’s final wishes are respected has fallen on them. While some government assistance is available, the remaining costs are a significant burden.
Desiree will be cremated, and a private wake and service will be held for her close family and friends.
Out of respect for the family’s privacy and their need to mourn, the details of the service will not be made public. However, if you were a part of Desiree’s life and would like to pay your respects, please reach out to the family directly. They would be honoured to have you join them in remembering and celebrating Desiree’s life.
We are asking for any contributions to help with the costs of cremation, the service, and to support the family during this difficult time. Every donation, no matter the amount, is greatly appreciated, and will go directly to the family.
Thank you for your love, support, and kindness during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Brian Spence
