As many of you know, Todd Tolton works out of town a lot for his job. This past Sunday, March 20th, Todd and his son Trey had flown to Los Angeles to go to work on a job on Monday about three hours from there L.A.
As they were getting in the rental car, Todd started having issues with his vision and said that he was not going to be able to drive because he could not see, within seconds, he had collapsed. The paramedics were called and to Todd within minutes and had transported him to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. All signs are indicating that Todd has suffered a stroke. The TPA, a clot busting drug was administered within the short time frame that is recommended for best results and seems to have improved his condition. While we are hopeful that there will be no long term major effects, there will surely be some short term. First and foremost, getting Todd well enough to come back to Oklahoma This will likely have to be by rental car, as he is likely not going to be allowed to fly anytime soon.
His wife, Terrie, was at home in Yukon, OK and make arrangements to fly out of Oklahoma City first thing Monday morning. Although they did have some air miles that she was able to use, because of the urgent time frame and last minute flight situation, she also had to pay an additional amount, essentially depleting their accounts. As this hospital is three hours from where Todd was to be staying for work, she has also had the expense of hotel, rental car, parking, as well as the daily expenses of food and other items you might expect.
Of course, they do have medical insurance, but as we all know, it will not cover everything, so while their out of pocket cost are unknown, there are sure to be plenty.
As her friends and family, we wanted to do something to try and help ease their burden, but of course, most of us could not do much on our own. But we thought maybe if we all did what little we could afford without putting a strain on our own pockets, maybe together, we could help alleviate some of the strain on Terrie and Todd’s pocket in addition to the moral and emotional support that we are all currently offering.
We are going to try to set this up with either Todd or Terrie’s Facebook account so that all of their friends and family will be able to see it, stay up to date on the details and donate if they feel called to do so.
