Fighting Period Poverty
Tax deductible
Period poverty is the lack of access to menstrual products such as pads, tampons and liners. In the absence of sanitary products, many females are forced to use cardboard, rags, paper towels or toilet paper. Infections such as urinary tract infections and bacterial vaginosis can be transmitted through products like rags, paper towels, and reused pads. Women and girls living below the poverty line or from low-income families are likelier to skip school during their periods. Often, period poverty is ignored as a public health issue.
By providing free menstrual supplies, BELL Organization hopes to reduce financial strain around access to period management products, reducing period poverty for many women and students struggling to feed themselves, addressing their menstrual health, and avoid missing school. Your donation will allow us to reach students, homeless women, girls, and transgender and nonbinary individuals who struggle with period poverty.
Our designated goal for the funds will be to host communities wellness events in partnership with community leaders in low-income communities and women's shelters around the Bronx and surrounding communities
