Update:
Update on mom. While at encompass rehab recovering from her amputation, she was dropped with assistance going from the bed to the wheelchair and fell on the amputated leg after only about a week after the procedure. This caused an area that the doctors had to keep an eye on. They removed the staples and it was good for about two days and then on the third day half of her amputation at the surgical area opened up. Mom now has to wear a wound vac and hopes her leg heals properly. This has set mom back in recovery. Currently, due to Mom being wheelchair bound she is using my van that is accessible on her dialysis and doctor appointment days. We are blessed that we have this van; however, it puts me in a strain when I need to go to work or my doctors appointments if she also is using the van. We are in the process of trying to get her her own accessible van. They are very expensive. Please continue to share my mom‘s story as she still needs all the prayers and any financial help, that can be provided

.Hello. Ms. Hazel needs our prayers and support. I am one of Hazel Terry’s children, Wendi. Many of you know my mom. She has impacted your life in some way. She is known to many as Ms. Hazel. She was a bus driver for 44 years in Stafford County. She has an amazing heart and has had her own children go through many battles that she was there for. Heart surgeries, moped accident, and cancer. Mom was hit in a head on collision while driving the bus, recovered the best she could and went back to work. That’s how much she loved her children on the bus. Throughout her 44 years of driving the school bus for Stafford, she has transported multiple generations of children. She has watched over children who became parents to have their children ride her bus only to become adults and carry their children. She is still recovering from losing our father in 2021. First I am asking for prayers. Prayer that my mothers muscles strengthen and she is able to come back home. As a result from driving the bus for 44 years, she has very poor circulation in both of her legs. The vein doctors thought they were successful in removing the blockage in time; however her toes on both feet began to turn black. After few months of treating her feet, the left foot toes were unable to be saved. She had gangrene. On Jan 11 she was admitted to Fairfax Hospital to have her toes amputated. She was put into a rehab that treated her very poorly. The rehab would put her in a chair and leave her for a hour and call that physical therapy. She was in there for two weeks until we could get her into a better facility closer to home. During those two weeks she lost most of her muscle mass. She went from walking into the Hospital to have surgery to barely being able to pull herself up in bed. She has a long road in front of her. We have medical equipment scheduled to be delivered to the house. Wheelchair, hospital bed, and a lift. Her insurance doesn’t include transportation and mom is currently wheelchair bound. Since I have an accessible van, me and my sisters are taking her from the rehab to the Dyalsis center three days a week. I am riding public transportation on these days so my mom can get to her doctor appointments. Making multiple trips to Fairfax. Her rehab bills, medical bills, medical equipment and gas cost are becoming more abundant. She would never ask for help, so I am asking for her. Just sharing this will help.
