MAC Centre Flood
10 minutes before Fajr [Dawn] prayers, an underground pipe exploded sending mud and water onto the main floor of the MAC Islamic Centre. Both prayer halls, the atrium, the multipurpose area, the office and all businesses have been affected. All proceeds will be given to the MAC Centre [6104 172 St. Edmonton]
The pipe that exploded is near the office- which is now filled with mud. Notice the holes in the wall where the water an mud came in.
Our atrium after the water was drained.
Our Home
Hundreds of people gathered around the MAC Centre only a few months ago , and formed a Human Chain [Ring of Peace] in solidarity after the Quebec massacre. A gathering space for families of all backgrounds to grow and belong. A space where community thrives! This is MAC, this is home.
You can see the water line was upwards of 3ft.
The Utilities room [where the pipe burst] is now covered in 4 ft of mud.
Volunteers and emergency disaster crews were hard at work.
Not everything could be saved- but alhamdulillah no one was hurt.
When the prayer hall door was opened, water poured out.
How You Can Help
- Duaa [prayer]
- Donate, share and spread the word.
- Support the businesses in the MAC Complex.
- Contact the centre and see you you can use your talent and time. [email redacted]
