Help Mac survive!

I’m Mac (white/trans non-binary/33). I am a mother, partner, sibling, and friend. I am a survivor. I have struggled with my mental health most of my life. I have several genetic mutations that predisposed me to depression and ADHD. As a parent, I want to take care of my mental health to show up for my child and demonstrate healthy coping skills. 

I have treatment resistant depression, cPTSD, ADHD and anxiety. Recently, I have had a huge flare in symptoms. Due to the severity of symptoms I have had to take a leave of absence from work. I’m needing funding to supplement income lost during my intensive depression treatment to help support my family, including my son. 

The intensive outpatient treatment I will be attending has a total cost of $3,600. I am asking for $5,000 to cover the cost of this treatment and lost wages. I am only getting 60% of my income during my short-term disability. I don’t want to go into debt as a result of getting this life affirming care! 

After getting treatment, I want to go back and finish my social work degree. I hope to work at the KU cancer center, where I am currently a scheduler, to help patients and families as they go through one of the worst times in their lives! 

I refuse to quit. I am choosing to fight. I am choosing to stay.
