UK/Ireland stand up for HIE and Peeps

Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Peeps and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

More information about Peeps: Peeps aims to raise awareness of HIE and support families affected by it. HIE stands for hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy and, in simple terms, means a lack of oxygen to the brain that can cause injury.

HIE AWARENESS MONTH!!

HIE AWARENESS MONTH!!

I first started this think I will run a marathon everyday for 29 days , how flipping insane, I managed just 3 full marathons and 1 half marathon in 4 days before my body decided it wasn’t ready for this yet . With the current situation with corona virus I thought it would be stupid to go out and risk injury and over stretch the NHS further

I thought the goal was over, but really the goal is about raising awareness for HIE and for the charity and I can still do this!

with the thought of friends from the boxing community ciaran Mcvarnock and Jake Andrews they thought it would be good idea for everyone tochip in with their exercise!

so my new plan to raise money and awareness  for Peeps and HIE is I urge everybody I know and who you know and who they know to share share share your exercise, no matter how big or small, most people I know exercise daily so why not from now on have the families and people effected by HIE on your minds and after each workout post a picture with the hashtags #HeardofHIE #runforhie #rideforHie tag the charity #peeps

with all your help we can make a bigger impact than I could of ever imagined

please help..

18TH DECEMBER 2019 my son albie Thomas Mcgowan was Born via emergency C Section due to a silent placenta abruption meaning the placenta teared away from the womb to early meaning lack of or no oxygen to the unborn baby.
Long story short he was born in a very poor condition not breathing and had to be resuscitated before finally after ten minutes achieving his first unassisted breath, he was put in an incubator on a cooling mattress to bring his temperature to 33.5 degrees and keep it there for 72 hours before slowly being warmed up back to normal temperature 37 degrees. Diagnosis H.I.E grade 2 (Hypoxix ichemic encephalopathy, lack of oxygen during or after birth) He’s doing great now but under physio and constant appointments to check for early signs of cerebral palsy (the most common result of h.i.e) doesn’t help he’s also got a rare condition craniosynostosis (early fusing of skull plates) which he is also dealing with and under care at AlderHey awaiting a very serious operation on his skull. Anyway that’s a story for another day!

It’s not just me there are thousands of families up and down the country and all over the world thinking that the birth of their child is suppose to be the happiest day of their life is flipped upside down and turns into their worst nightmare not knowing one second from the next, wether their child might live or not (Sadly a lot don’t), how their child with develop, what life changing injuries and disabilities their child will have.

I am raising money and awareness for the charity Peeps who are proving support to parents, families & friends of those affected by HIE (hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy), raising awareness of HIE.

I know it’s a hard time being isolated because of corona virus and everyone’s skint like I am myself but if I can make a fraction of difference to any families having to go through what me and Francesca have been through and currently going through than I suppose being out of work and out of gym ain’t been such a bad thing

I’m not a great runner , I’ve ran a lot since I was 9 due to be a boxer and I’ve never ran 26 miles in my life the most I’ve done is 15 miles and that was today, and my legs are aching from it but I start my marathon journey tomorrow, it will be hard and I’m sure pretty fast I will be walking, but if it means that everyday I’ve got to walk the full length of marathon just to complete it I will for all the children and all the families!

If you can’t donate that’s fine , just share at least so It can reach more people who may be in a financial situation to help Peeps - HIE
