MACE COMMUNITY FISHING IMPROVEMENTS
Donation protected
Mace River Ranch has established a community fishing group with the purpose of improving our waters. There are currently 32 residents that are participating members of the group of all ages.
UPDATE:
We have recently completed Phase 1 of our two-year fisheries enhancement plan.
Phase 1 consisted of placing 95 fish structures within our ponds to enhance growth, encourage reproduction and provide habitat for forage fish. The first $2500 went towards funding the materials to build these structures in Phase 1.
Phase 2 will be putting pea gravel along pond edges for spawning habitat in May at the cost of $700. Once funded, we will be asking for volunteers to help place the gravel within our waters.
Phase 3 will be stocking forage fish such as bluegill, crawfish and crappie in June at the cost of $3500.
Phase 4 will complete our plan late this year by stocking 5lb largemouth and 20-30inch rainbow and brown trout in our ponds. The cost for Phase 4 is roughly $2500.
