Machu Picchu for First Responders

I'm Aaron, aka @huffysadventures, and in June this year, I'm hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Peru, to raise money for Police Legacy and BuddyUp Australia.

Machu Picchu, or the "Lost City of the Incas", is located about 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Cuzco, Peru, in the Cordillera de Vilcabamba of the Andes Mountains and reaches heights nearing 13,828 feet (4,215 meters).

I am a passionate hiker and in 2013, I summited Mount Meru, Tanzania, at a height of 4,562.13 metres (14,968 ft)

In 2014, I summited Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest single free-standing mountain above sea level in the world at a height of 5,895 metres (19,341 ft).

Since then, I've spent my time exploring Tasmania, Queensland, New South Wales and New Zealand, as well as raising money and completing medical aid trips in the southern Philippines with the latest in 2020 as COVID took hold of the world.

After a knee reconstruction mid-2022, I'm training hard to take on this new challenge but need your support :)

Queensland Police Legacy was established in 1971 to provide the resources to ensure that the dependent children of Queensland Police families receive the education their parents intended for them, that they deserve and that circumstances could have deprived them of.

BuddyUp Australia is a registered charity who connects current and former serving military personnel, first responders and their immediate families to their communities. They do this through physical fitness, social activities and purposeful volunteering. With a membership of over 1,500 Australia-wide, and a 95% volunteer-run model, Buddy Up has, to date, delivered over 1,200 events. Buddy Up aims to expand their event delivery and launch new Chapters in QLD, NT, WA and NSW over the next 12 months. (http://www.buddyupaustralia.org/ )

BackTrack Adventures is an adventure travel agency, founded in 1984 and based in Brisbane, Australia. They are a fully-licensed travel agency helping dream holidays come true. They offer trekking experiences to Mount Kilimanjaro, the Nepalese Himalayas and the Indian Himalayas. They are also incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about the polar regions – Antarctica and the Arctic.
