Maci Surgery Fund - Help Save Our Beloved School Dog

Maci is a comfort dog at Lee Middle and High School in Lee, MA. She was donated to the schools in 2022 by a local breeder with the promise that all expenses, including training and medical care, would be paid for through the breeder’s comfort dog program. Unfortunately, circumstances outside of the District’s control caused the breeder to back out of the arrangement, and the district was left with no funding for the dogs (note: Maci is one of three comfort dogs that were donated to the District). Maci has been integrated into our school over the last 2 ½ years and is loved by many. The decision was made to keep her as the school comfort dog, and her expenses have been paid for through fundraising, donations, and her handler.

Maci has been recently diagnosed with Bilateral Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture due to an excessively steep tibial plateau angle. She requires two surgeries called Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy in order to fix her bones and ligaments; without these surgeries, Maci may be required to be euthanized.

Our goal for fundraising is $20,000 in order to cover her two surgeries and the associated rehabilitation. Any help, in any amount, will be so much appreciated. We love our Maci and want her to be able to offer support and comfort to the students and staff that love her so much. She is part of our school family, and she needs us as much as we need her.

What Maci loves: her people, her treats, car rides, and also trying to ‘eat’ the cars that drive past her like she's Pac-Man; running with her canine friends, swimming and more swimming, paddleboard rides, cuddling and long naps, burying her head in her human's lap and getting ear rubs, giving kisses and high fives, making her rounds at school to her favorite humans for her morning treats, visiting with her favorite students who come to say hello and give her belly rubs, running around in the school courtyard with her brother Ollie, and stealing bones and treats from her sister Sky when home.
