Support an amazing hospital

Two months ago after weeks of Mackenzie complaining of backache we visited the GP to be told she has Scoliosis, curvature of the spine. An x-ray revealed a severe curve of 61 degrees. We couldnt believe what we were seeing on the x-ray because on the outside she looks normal but inside her body is twisting. As with many cases of Scoliosis in teenagers, the 'watch and wait' was not not an option for Mackenzie. She needs surgery as soon as possible before her curve progresses.
I spent weeks researching and talking to mums in the UK who have flown to America for a life changing operation not yet available in the UK. We immediately jumped on a plane and took Mack out to see three different surgeons to find out if she qualifies for this operation. The criteria she needed to meet for their approval was immense.
After getting the green light we have chosen an incrediable surgeon at The Shriners hospital who is happy to perform the operation. This hospital is a charity organisation funded by donations from the public. When we were there last week they couldnt have been more welcoming and accomodating and were truely wondeful with Mackenzie.
We would love to raise as much money as possible to donate to this fantastic hospital who will be looking after our little girl.
Throughout all of this Mackenzie has continued to smile and just got on with daily life despite having to wear a body brace for 23 hours a day.
Any support, however small, you could give would be greatly appreciated and would help this wondeful hospital to continue to do the incrediable work they do.
Devon and I are planning some fund raising events so keep checking back to find out more.
Here is a link to my blog if you would like to follow her story so far. http://mackenziesscoliosisjourney.tumblr.com/
