11 Years ago a couple had a mission, to help supply some really sick people with a naturally grown medicine that little to no side effects and miraculous qualities. Cannabis.
This couple aren’t the usual stigmatized hippies that you’re picturing, she is a nurse and he is a minister, they did the research that was available at the time and legalities regarding it and came to the conclusion that regardless of the risk they would try and help.
A group of like-minded people got together and formed a non-profit society, M.A.C.R.O.S (mobile access compassionate resources organization society).
They worked tirelessly at all hours to source good, condition specific strains that were economical and that didn’t support organized crime, delivered to the sick and bed ridden, rode the roller coaster of emotion of watching the palliative patients eventually pass on with the only comfort was in that their last time was in comfort and sound mind with their family around them. At times it was hard, exhausting, and a thankless undertaking, but they pushed on as there was always someone who really was thankful and they even witnessed miraculous events such as cancer cured, MS patients relieved of their torment, and the living hell of mental disorders set free.
fast forward to 2009, with more and more media attention and research in to cannabis for medical use they decided they would risk everything they had to open a store front to really reach the ones in need here in Alberta. Things exploded, their two sons came on board to help and became vital links as Bob had 2 heart attacks and with his other medical conditions along with Janice having her medical issues and they being in their late 50s at the time. Membership went from under 100 to over 1200 with some as far away as Newfound Land.
Things were going so well, Supreme Court rulings were being won by patients and people were accepting cannabis as a medical alternative, doctors came forward to offer consultation one even became a member, the Edmonton police service even called to ask questions on cases and treated them as expert consultants regarding cannabis and its uses. The Strathcona RCMP even sent a person to them to so they could help him.
Then one day the same police came and served a warrant, Janice and the one son was arrested at the store and Bob was at home where the RCMP served a warrant and invaded their home and stole their medicine and destroyed the medical grow they had that wasn’t connected to the dispensary.
It’s our turn to help them, payroll was seized and all cash they had stored away, their whole family is in dire straits now and with ony a few days left in the month things are looking bleak, without our support they won’t be able to take their case to the supreme court un a constitutional challenge. That means if they win, dispensaries will be legal as they should be. i ask you think of all the patients that need this vital medicine, like the little 4 year old angel who has a rare form of epilepsy who’s only option left from conventional medicine is a piece of her brain being removed, with CBD oil she is a normal little girl getting into all sorts of mischief, or the father of 2 who was told his brain tumor was in inoperable and has a few months left yet with help from the MACROS family he has surpassed that by a year and his tumor has shrunk to almost nothing.
They are good people that showed their compassion as one person witnessed the first word out of their mouths when released was "what are our members going to do now?", that my friends is a statement from someone who really cares about humanity and is the type of people that should be operating a cannabis dispensary.
Let’s restore faith in humanity and dig in our pockets a bit and help them survive to fight a just fight.......
