Madaline Hamrick

Meet Adaline and Madaline. The identical twins had an early start in life as they were born at 29 weeks and one day. After years of trying mom and dad (Christin and Chase) found out they were not only pregnant but pregnant with twin girls. Things were going great until Madaline stopped growing and started to become distressed due to a lack of nutrients due to placenta failure. After 4 weeks in the hospital the girls were delivered by emergency c-section on Feb 13, 2024.

Adaline weighed 2 pounds 6.8 oz at birth. She is growing and is very health. She receives tube feeds of mother’s milk and can be held.

Madaline weighed 1 pound 1 oz at birth. She is intubated and under sedation. She has a premature lung disease, a hole in her heart that didn’t close properly at birth. She currently is only receiving IV nutrition as she has trouble with air in her digestive track caused by her blood no flowing properly. Her digestive track isn’t fully active yet, but they hope to begin feeds soon.

Mom and dad also care for daughter Holly (11) as well as Christin’s mom who sustained a traumatic brain injury from a car accident in 2022. Dad took a few days off and has gone back to work as he is the main support. He spends his afternoons and weekends with the new twins when he can. Mom stays with the twins most days. Family has stepped in to support Holly and Christin’s mom to relieve some responsibilities during this situation.

Family members are in hopes that with the support of our community, we can all provide some ease to the finical stress during this difficult time. With the recent rain dad hasn't been able to work a full week. Although we come together as a family to support them, we would love the help of the community to allow mom and dad to focus more on everyone being healthy and coming home together as a family.

I write this post with a sadend, broken heart our sweet Madaline Grace has passed, this is truly the hardest thing we have ever had to deal with!!!! We want to thank everyone so very much for all the loving prayers prayed for our sweet baby girl. Please continue to pray for our family! A service will be held for Madaline at Stameys funeral home in fallston NC on Friday 15th of March at 11am. The receiving of family and friends will be after the service. We are asking if anyone is sick to please not come as we do NOT want to take the risk of taking anything back to the hospital to Adaline. With love and appreciation!
