Madcap Employee Relief Fund
Madcap has always been about prioritizing people. Prioritizing one another, our staff, our customers, and our partners. There are few things we enjoy more than sharing a cup of coffee with our community and generally, there aren’t many daily rituals as significant as this.
Due to the closures of restaurants and bars in the state of Michigan all of our retail locations have seen an almost 80% drop in sales. This same approach to mitigating the spread of the COVID-19 virus has been implemented in states across the country, meaning that many of our roastery customers we supply coffee to have either closed their doors or seen a significant drop in sales. 65% of Madcap's workforce is comprised of hourly baristas and/or roastery employees, many of which depend on tips to maintain a livable wage.
At this time we have temporarily closed two of our retail locations and limited the hours in our roastery. This reduction in hours and sales has drastically impacted everyone's pay. In an effort to cushion the blow to our incredible and hardworking staff that have been serving the Michigan community for 12 years, we are setting up this GoFundMe to help support them in these uncertain times. Funds will be divided evenly amongst all our hourly workers on a weekly basis, in both Grand Rapids and Detroit. This is not intended to be our employee’s sole source of income as we continue to work internally to find ways to support our team.
