Maddie service dog
Donation protected
Hi , my names Maddie, and I am 14 years old. My whole life I have struggled with severe heath problems. I was born with major heart defects. I have had 3 open heart surgeries, and expect to have more. During my second heart surgery I suffered a stroke , since then I have dealt with the ramifications that go along with a stroke. As if that was not enough, I developed a very rare autoimmune disorder called relapsing polychondritis when I was 12. This required a lot of hospitalization and IV infusions every 2 weeks. Over the past year due to the RP I have developed CNS vasculitis. The vasculitis has caused me to have episodes where I have difficulty moving and pass out, I also have POTS which is a disorder where my autonomic nerve system does not work right so my heart rate will either spike very high and drop really low and cause me to pass out or have trouble walking. As you can imagine, I now have severe anxiety. My health care workers along with my parents agree that a service dog would be a huge benefit. The service dog would help with mobility and anxiety alert and response to panic attacks and the dog would also alert to someone if I have passed out as well as alert me before hand to me passing out so I could get to a safe place or prevent it. Service dogs are a huge expense but we believe this will help improve my quality of life ALOT. Every penny helps and thank you for your donation.
