Super Boy goes to Cincinnati!!

Donation protected
On Dec 1st, Cassie and David will begin their journey to Cincinnati for Maddox, where he will be having his surgery, on the 5th. As most of you know, the last two years of my Godsons life, has been filled with multiple surgeries and PICU stays, than a little boy should ever have to endure. He has spent more than half of his life enclosed in a hospital room instead of being with his family. Maddox has Bronco Pulmonary Dysplasia (BPD), which is a chronic lung diseases that has caused more than 50% of his lungs to now have permanent damage. This has been caused from the constant need for Hi- Flow oxygen support to keep his airway open. He also has several severe airway diseases , (Tracheomalacia, Laryngomalacia, and Bronchomalacia) that causes him to have lack of support in the airway, as well as extra cartilage and floppy tissue. Doctors have told them that this is a "recipe for disaster." Cassie and David have searched effortlessly for answers, and all his doctors have agreed that sending him to Cincinnati, where they have the best Aerodigestive team in the country is the best choice for him. Cassie took Maddox in August, where they decided to do surgery to "try" to fix his airway, in hopes that they can improve his quality of life. The surgery that the doctors will be performing is a very aggressive one, they will be removing his scar tissue and extra cartilage from his airway while also trying to add some support to improve his airway. He will be placed in a medically induced coma for 7 to 10 days, to try allow him the best healing possible.
Cassie and David will be driving to Cincinnati together while Leana (Maddox's 6 year old sister) will stay behind with the help of family. They are currently on the waiting list for the Ronald McDonald house, however, this particular house is very hard to get into. Cassie and David did not want to further prolong the surgery for their son, so they will be taking their chances in hopes of being able to obtain a room in the house. The doctors have informed them that they will be staying in Cincinnati for a good portion of December. As hard as it is going to be to spend a month away from their daughter, during the Holidays, no less. they have decided to pack their bags and start another adventure, in hopes of giving their son a chance to live his life without hospital stays, oxygen tanks and numerous doctor visits. He has 2 amazing big sisters and many cousins that are waiting for his quick return so they can build memories with him.

Cassie had to give up her career to care for her son full time, due to his extensive hospital stays. This is why I am asking for your help in anyway possible. I have seen first hand their struggles and stress as parents to be the best advocates for Maddox, Loss of hope and many sleepless nights searching for answers for their son has been emotionally draining on all of them. They have done an amazing job balancing between Leana and Maddox's needs. They have stood very strong and decided that this will not break them, but make them stronger as a family. I am extremely proud of them both and couldn't have asked for better parents for my nieces and nephew. Maddox, has such a beautiful soul, his strength is beyond words, hence why he is called Super Boy(Moy). It is very clear that his strength and endurance is something that has been past down from his parents. David works endless hours to support his family on one income, him deciding take a leave of absence from work to be at his sons bedside will come with a financial burden. Cassie and David are not ones to ask for help, although very difficult at times they have always managed to make sure their kids are not in need of anything. So, I am asking you to help my nephew in anyway you can. Being away from Leana is something that is going to be very difficult for them. As parents we also try to make the best decision for our children, so they decided to embark on this road in hopes that Maddox can live the life that he deserves with his parents, his sisters and his family that love him so dearly.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading their story. I will be updating this page with pictures and videos so you can help walk through this journey alongside them. Encouraging messages during this time are welcomed. Please share this page on your social media. Any donation will help.
