Made In New Rochelle
Habitat for Humanity of Westchester (Habitat) is creating and hosting a free makerspace in New Rochelle for local artisans, craftsmen, entrepreneurs and cottage industry manufacturers to help revitalize the city. We ask that you help us raise $5,000 in startup funds to pay for the minor renovations needed to repurpose some space in our Restore, as well as procure basic equipment and supplies.
What: the funds will help Habitat open a New Rochelle-based shop and storefront gallery called, “Made in New Rochelle.” The new workshop will share room in Habitat’s Restore, and provide space to create, display and sell works of art and other creations, such as textile art and up-cycled fashion, woodworking and furniture making, sculpture and pottery, painting and illustration, and other visual arts and crafts, and creative projects and enterprises.
Who: Westchester residents of all ages and walks of life are invited to participate by bringing their talent, creativity and vision to the makerspace, and by supporting other participants.
Why: as part of our ongoing campaign to revitalize New Rochelle and help it become a thriving, vibrant city, Habitat plans to make it a hub for innovation and creativity. With your assistance, "Made in New Rochelle," can help nurture new and emerging talent and support artisans and their creations from conception through purchase, by providing the space and means, and facilitating the opportunity to share their talent with the public and sell their works.
Where: our new storefront gallery, "Made in New Rochelle," will be co-located at Habitat, 659 Main Street, New Rochelle, New York.
When: Habitat will be opening its doors to "Made in New Rochelle" this summer and will post the grand opening date and operating hours on our website: www.habitatwc.org.
We thank you for your generous, tax deductible donation.
