Help Madeleine's recovery from a bad break!

Hi, friends! As you know, on April 28, our girl Madeleine took a slide down a slippery incline, and her ankle took an unnatural turn, resulting in two broken bones, surgery, screws, plates, staples -- all of it. We're very thankful that we all live so close to each other, and can provide her the physical and emotional support she needs while healing. We're thankful for health insurance which has already allowed us to pay off 100% of the co-pay for her surgery. We're thankful for the single random stranger who stopped to help Maddie in her distress while Joel rushed from work to take her to the ER. (I hope to bring you cookies, Random Stranger.) We're thankful for loved ones who stepped in immediately to bless her with calls and texts, prayers, food delivery, and gift cards!
If healing goes as planned, she will be fully weight-bearing and ready to resume work after two months. Good news! And...difficult news. This is an incredibly inconvenient injury for someone in the service industry! For the past year, Madeleine has enjoyed learning the ropes at Condado, making good, taking on more roles and responsibilities, and looking forward to a seasonal uptick in hours and wages.
This has put a major pause on all that.
2-3 months is a long time to not be earning. While her employer happily holds her spot, and her awesome co-workers cover her shifts, rent and bills wait for no woman.
A season meant to be earning extra has been cut off, restricting her ability to meet immediate responsibilities and severely complicating her ability to accommodate for the near future. Madeleine's lease is up in July. She's been actively looking for new digs for months, and was just starting to put in applications.
Friends, there's not much else to spell out from here. We're not calling this a tragedy. There's no music in the background. There's simply an unexpected accident and an insufficient safety net. We all know what it takes to live. Joel and I are doing all we can to fill in some of the gaps, but we've also been temporarily down to one income as I transition into a new job at the end of this month. (More gratitude!)
I'm asking our communities to gather 'round Madeleine while she heals, finds a new place to live, and makes a move.
If you can contribute, funds will go directly to cover existing or upcoming utility bills, rent, move-out/move-in costs, food and pet care. We love our girl, and we know you do, too. Thank you for reading, thank you for sharing among your own communities.
Much love,
Lauren & Joel
