Madeley CC Cricket Net Refurbishment

After 17 years of heavy use, our 3 lane cricket nets at Madeley Cricket Club are in need of refurbishment and repair to make them safe and useable for many years to come.

The cricket nets are a vital part of the club and are used on most days from April through to September by juniors, women and senior members. It's fantastic that they are used so much and by so many people, but the carpets are wearing out, the sub-base needs to be re-surfaced to stop the uneven bounce and it also requires new netting.

Planned refurbishment:

Lifting of all surfaces from existing area and removal of timber edgings

Lift existing shock-pads and service existing hard porous surfaces to original levels

Fill void left by timber edgings and compact

Re-fit shock-pads

Fit three pieces of batting end carpets 11m x 2.74m

Fit three pieces of bowling end carpets 8m x 2.74

Fit new netting to sides and full roof of triple bay

Planned Refurbishment cost: £17500

What this refurbishment will bring to our club:

The project will allow us to continue to safely use the nets by all members of our cricket community, consisting of 4 senior teams, a ladies team, 2 junior teams as well as our thriving All Stars and Dynamo clubs for our younger players.

We are a club situated in an area of social and economic deprivation as described by the Local Council and the Shropshire Cricket Board. As a consequence of this, we provide free training to our junior cricket members by our ECB level 2 qualified coaches.

We provide the ECB All Stars and Dynamos initiatives at discounted prices to the set ECB charges and get a great level of participation from children 5 upwards. A special thanks to our generous sponsor that allows us were to discount the ECB charges for All Stars at half price (£20) and provide Dynamos free of charge a discount of £15 per child

We also provided a two day holiday club cricket event during the summer school holidays free of charge to around 50 children in the local community.

We need to have the facilities in a state which aids development of our players and support their transitioning either into hard ball cricket from softball, juniors to playing in the senior ladies or mens fourth XI teams. This project will drastically improve our facilities and help increase the standard of all our players.
