Hello Friends! I have BIG news!
I am adopting a little girl from Bulgaria!
I am so excited to be taking steps towards the calling that has been on my heart for the last 13 years. I vividly remember the day that I had my first conversation with God about adoption as a 16-year-old girl. Ever since then, God has brought me opportunity after opportunity to meet orphans, adoptees, families that have adopted, foster families, social workers, orphanage owners, and more. Through dozens divine appointments, I learned and witnessed everything that makes adoption amazing, challenging, and so necessary for the future of a child’s life and for the future of the world. I learned about the plight of the orphan in third-world countries, particularly in Eastern Europe and Bulgaria. There are so many things I could say and so many ways to explain why this is something I care about. I probably could talk for hours on this topic (I’m sure I have with many of you) but to explain in a nutshell: Family matters. Humans are not meant to be raised by governments and institutions. Millions of children are living a waking nightmare every day and they are desperate for someone to step up for them! My family and I have been blessed beyond measure and as we look around at our lives we realize that we have so much to share. We believe adoption is the gospel: it’s sacrificing self for another, it’s leaving the 99 to chase the one, it’s giving a second chance to justice, giving someone a new name, a new destiny, calling them LOVED not forsaken, and giving them a place at the table. It is a mirror of what Jesus did for me.
As part of the adoption process, I have started this crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $45,000 or more, depending on the country and adoption agency used. I have chosen the Bulgaria program through an adoption agency called CCAI that makes a point to keep costs relatively low for adoptive families. Based on the cost breakdown that they have provided to me for Bulgarian adoption, I have set a goal of 30,000. Through this platform, social media, and personal savings,I have raised about 15,000 already! Every contribution towards this goal helps me get one step closer to being matched with a child and bringing them home. The financial burden of adoption can feel overwhelming, but I have already see God’s hand in it. With your continued support, there will be one less orphan in Bulgaria!
I hope that by inviting you into this fundraising process, you will see yourself as part of my “village”. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and many of you will be that support system for me and my child throughout this process and as she grows up. Your support means the world to me whether it be in prayer, in finances, in advice, in moral support, or even just well wishes from afar. Thank you for being willing to help me realize my life dream and calling, while offering hope to a child in need.
