Madison Brooke Peters "Most Beautiful Person"
Donation protected
I sit here at my computer with uncontrollable tears streaming down my face. We have decided that Madi needs a village. My niece Madison Brooke Peters, aka “MBP,” "Most Beautiful Person,” was a super healthy child. If you don’t know Madi, she is a very funny and witty young lady. She loves life and is the most caring, kind, and sweet loving soul you have ever met. She was experiencing all the normal things that children do. She was on the swim team, cross country, Girl Scouts, played the violin, all while making honor roll and maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
About one year ago, something changed and Madison was not herself. Madison had to quit all activities; she just physically couldn’t do it anymore. She was experiencing fatigue, pain in her joints and hands, and lost a ton of weight, all which are symptoms of an RA (rheumatoid arthritis) patient. For a family, you can imagine how scary that can be.
Chelsea, Madison’s mom, has taken Madi to many doctors. Madi has given over 100 vials of blood with no exact diagnosis. This has gone on for over one year. Many of you know my sister Chelsea. She is the best mom in the world. Her life revolves around making sure Madi has a wonderful childhood. She won’t stop researching and trying to help her daughter. My sister wouldn’t take “we’re just not sure” for an answer. We then found a different doctor to take Madi to. This doctor ran more tests and also had the lab look at her blood under a microscope. The dreaded phone call came in just a few short weeks ago, finally telling her “what is wrong with Madison.” They had tested her two other times for Lyme disease, but this time the test had come came back positive. As devastating as this is, we are now relieved to know what is wrong, so that we can help Madison HEAL. As many of you know, if Lyme disease is caught within 60 days, it can sometimes be treated with antibiotics. If not treated within 60 days, it becomes “chronic.” Western Medicine says basically there is no cure for Lyme disease and to regulate symptoms through diet.
We have found a wonderful medical facility, Envita (envita.com), in Scottsdale, AZ. They have rave reviews on helping cure people with Lyme disease. Madison will be starting treatment there 4/1/2020. Madison will have to have a port put in (like they use for chemotherapy). For treatment, Madison will be spending six hours a day, five days a week for up to 8-12 weeks at the clinic. Madison will not be able to finish her eighth grade year at school with all her friends. We are hoping to find a way to get her back to Tucson for graduation. Madison is excited to receive treatment so she can start high school in the fall feeling great. That breaks my heart, and I wish it was me who had this and she could just enjoy her childhood. I can’t imagine having to go through this at such a young age, as well as not being able to keep up with your friends at all the activities, due to fatigue.
This brings me to why we have started a GoFundMe page. The treatment is 80,000.00, and the supplements after treatment, renting a condo, etc.,are not included in that cost. My sister and Madison will be having to move to Scottsdale. The great news is my sister has an Isagenix business, and does some accounting work for people, which enables her to work remotely. We are very blessed that she has the freedom to be by Madison's side during treatment. We can’t imagine how much worse this would be if Chelsea couldn’t work while her daughter is receiving treatment.
I have decided that it takes a village to get through something like this. “Madi’s Village.” I am asking you today if you can donate anything to help defray the cost of treatment. We would be forever grateful. My family has always given and volunteered to help people through many organizations right here in Arizona. I never thought I would have to ask for HELP. As I sit here today, my heart begs for your help. We pray that we can come up with enough money to get this taken care of for my sister. She is a single mom, who has asked a client to advance her whole year’s pay to help with the cost. I don’t want to see Madi’s treatment for this disease ruin my sister’s future for financial stability, even though a MOM will do what a MOM has to do, and so will an AUNT, for that matter. If we can all give as much as we can, we can get through this together. We all know it takes a village. Madi’s Village.
We will be updating this post throughout Madi’s treatment, so keep checking back for progress updates. And again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
