Living The Dream Initiative:
Inspiring Youth Through Entrepreneurship
What would it cost you to start living your dream today? For 5 high school students it could be free!
Even in Madison Wisconsin, a growing tech hub, recently ranked #2 in a ranking of the best cities for young entrepreneurs, a divide often separates a child’s dreams from the resources needed to reach them. The Living the Dream Fund seeks to bridge that gap by providing seed funding, technical assistance and mentorship to Madison’s at-risk youth.
What’s the Big Idea?
The Living the Dream Fund is a grassroots entrepreneurship contest inspired by the untapped innovative, self-starter spirit of Madison’s at-risk youth. Living the Dream aims to combat the long-standing economic disparities in the Madison community by sparking, promoting, and celebrating the diversity of youth entrepreneurship.
How It Works
The Living the Dream Fund will launch on May 2nd with a kickoff event at the Central Library in Downtown Madison. Join us at 7pm as we introduce the Living the Dream mission, promote the competition, and showcase existing dreamers, youth entrepreneurs and artists. In the months following, we will invite students in the Madison Metropolitan School District to upload videos describing their entrepreneurial dreams on the Living the Dream YouTube page. After evaluating the strength of the various entries, we will award five entrepreneurs $1,000 in the fall and partner them with a mentor in their chosen field who along with independent advisors, will help students to develop their dreams. Students will present their progress at a showcase event in May 2016.
