MADISON'S GYMNASTICS JOURNEY

Donation protected

I believe wholeheartedly that it takes a village to raise extraordinary people......... Madison Stewart is a 9-year-old gymnast who is currently training at the Gymnastics Institute with goals of ranking nationally and obtaining a college scholarship in gymnastics.  This involves participating in gymnastics competition throughout the country, long hours of practice, and dedication.  Madison is currently training 34 ½ hours per week, Monday –Friday starting at 1:00 pm -7:00 pm and 4 ½ hours on Saturday.  This amount of time and training is crucial to the success and safety of upper level gymnast.  Only gymnasts that have the potential to succeed are given this chance to try for these high goals.

Gymnastics is not only her goal.  Education is a priority as well.   Good grades are a requirement to remain on the team.  Her school has structured her school day so that she can commit to these practice times.  Being Madison’s mom gives me a front-row seat to the challenges of an elite gymnast.  I get to witness how one sport that promotes fun as well as teaches the skills necessary to cope with social and emotional challenges.   Initially, I enrolled Madison in gymnastics as a way to keep her busy, learn a few flips, and have some fun. However, as time passed, Madison’s talent have grown.

In November of 2016 and June of 2017, Madison attended the Olympic Training center Development Invite Camp located in Huntsville, Texas.   Valeri Lukin hosts this Invite Camp.  Valeri, is the National Team Coordinator for the United States women's national gymnastics team, replacing the retiring Károlyi’s.   The Developmental Invite Camp is for athletes entering the developmental pipeline with aspirations of becoming an elite athlete. The focus of this camp will be to develop a training plan for the gymnast. Madison will receive specific instructions on optional skills, elite compulsory routines, training tips and new techniques to get her to the elite level.  This is indeed an honor.

One of the biggest rewards as a parent is seeing Madison dedication as a gymnast and her education.  One of the biggest challenges for me is trying to balance gymnastic expenses along with our other day-to-day needs. A year of gymnastics for Madison’s at her skill level is up to $10,000 AND MORE– covering uniforms, class fees, travel, Coaches fees etc.

The impact of your support is never-ending for Madison during this journey.    These developmental Camps and additional training hours will take her a step closer to being an elite gymnast!  We will accept an in-kind donation or a financial contribution of any level.  I thank you and I appreciate your support in advance.  Continuing her dream of being a gymnast means the world to me as a parent.

Best,

Monique Scott (Mommy)
