For those not familiar with Waylon and the Madison Family’s journey, I just want to relate a few of the challenges that Waylon and the Family have been facing.
Prior to being hospitalized, Waylon lost his sight in October of 2021 due to an accident at his job. While dealing with his loss of vision, Waylon was hospitalized in July of 2022 for diagnosis and surgery to address heart and circulation problems. and remained in the hospital until December of 2022. During that time Waylon was to have triple bypass surgery due to A 99% blockage in an artery. However the doctors were unable to complete the surgery due to Waylon coding on the operating table, and having to be resuscitated twice. The doctors then decided that it would not be a safe to make a second attempt at the bypass surgery so instead they inserted seven stints which was successful.
Unfortunately after the surgery to insert the stints, there were complications, which led to Waylon being placed on an ECMO (heart pumping machine) for weeks where he then at some point suffered a stroke in his spine that led to him being paralyzed from the waist down. Due to his inability to move and lack of staff at the hospital, Waylon developed stage 4 pressure wounds that have continued to get infected due to his conditions with renal failure etc. He has been in and out of the hospital since then despite efforts to keep reinfections from occurring with doctor care, home health nurses etc.
Waylon had been resting and recovering at home for the past few months and was receiving extensive in-home care. However because of his failing health, Waylon has now been placed in hospice care, which for now means no more dialysis or any further treatment, just comfort medication.
Of course the family, Mary, Tamikua, Will, Patti and Natalie, have been caring for Waylon, spending nights and visiting him in the hospital, caring for him and giving him the extra care and attention that family does. During his stays at home, even though he had home health nurses, the family has supported Waylon with a major part of his needs.
The Madison family needs your prayers and support, a kind call, text to show your love would be appreciated. We also have the Singletary Family Facebook page where we can share our thoughts and love.
Finally, Waylon has no medical insurance and with his extended stay in the hospital, doctors, home health, and family at home care, there has been literally a mountain of bills. The Madison Family has taken it upon themselves to do all that they can to support Waylon financially up to now. At this point however, with what they are faced with now, the family is prayerfully, lovingly, and kindly asking for any assistance that you may be able to provide to assist in covering Waylon’s ongoing medical bills while in hospice, and any additional expenses that may arise. Any amount is welcome and appreciated.
May God bless you and your families, and we give you our love and prayers, in advance of the generosity that we know you will display!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!
