Ein Baum statt Blumen

Am 02. Oktober 2023 um 14:20 Uhr verstarb Magda Schäfer, unsere geliebte Frau, Mama, Großmutter, Schwester, Cousine und Freundin an den Komplikationen einer notwendig gewordenen Herzklappen-OP im Klinikum Kassel. Dieser Verlust wiegt enorm schwer auf unseren Schultern.

Trost finden wir einzig in der Gewissheit, dass wir Mama an den Händen hielten, sie mit Küssen überschütteten und sie auf ihrem letzten Weg begleiten konnten. Sie hinterlässt eine tiefe Kluft, gefüllt mit Licht und Liebe.

Dies ist das letzte Foto von Magda zu Lebzeiten vom 24. September 2023. Hier mit Tina, Freundin von Basti aus Uni-Zeiten und ein gern gesehener Gast in unserer Familie.

Unsere Mama Magda stellte jederzeit das Wohl anderer in den Vordergrund. Ihre eigenen Bedürfnisse nahm sie selbst kaum wahr und wenn doch, dann gab es oft andere Prioritäten. Viele Menschen haben mit uns Kontakt aufgenommen und ihr tiefes Mitgefühl zum Ausdruck gebracht. Manche sagten "Sie war eine Mutter für viele von uns", andere beschrieben ihre herzliche Art mit "Sie umarmte die Welt". Mir selbst gab sie vor vielen Jahren die extra Portion Freiheit, die ich brauchte, indem sie mir in einem Brief schrieb "Mich interessiert nicht, wen Du liebst. Mich interessiert nur, dass du liebst."

Viele Menschen nehmen Anteil an diesem tragischen Verlust und teilen unseren Schmerz und so haben wir eine besondere Idee.

Um eine Bestattung ganz in ihrem Sinne zu machen, möchten wir Euch um Hilfe bitten.

Mama wollte kein Tamtam, fand traditionelle Trauerfeiern und Beisetzungen furchtbar, sagte immer "Ich will nur auf die grüne Wiese oder gerne unter einen alten Baum." Genau das wollen wir für sie ermöglichen.

Mit Deiner Spende möchten wir:

1. Mama eine letzte Ruhestätte im Biotop RuheForst Kaufungen in der Nähe von Kassel ermöglichen. In einer biologisch abbaubaren Urne soll sie unter einer alten Eiche beigesetzt werden. Eine alte Eiche, so wie ihr Spielplatz als Kind, Anziehungspunkt für viele Generationen aus unserer Heimat Langenfeld bei Bad Salzungen.

2. Falls Geld übrig bleibt, soll der Rest vollständig einem guten Zweck zugeführt werden, der ganz im Sinne von Magdas Leben mit ihrem großen Herz steht:

Das Friedensdorf International – Viele Jahre lang betreute sie Kinder aus Kriegs- und Krisengebieten als Ersatzmama im Krankenhaus, besuchte sie monatelang jeden Tag.

Oder auch das Tierheim in Beuern, dass sie oft besucht hat – Mamas Herz schlug für alle Vierbeiner, aber vor allem für Hunde.

Der Baum, an dem Mama ihre letzte Ruhe findet, wird mit Hilfe einer App auffindbar sein. So könnt ihr sie auch besuchen. Was ist schöner, als ein erholsamer Spaziergang durch einen verzauberten Wald?

Da es nicht die Möglichkeit geben wird, zur Beisetzung Blumen mit in das Biotop des Waldes zu nehmen, möchten wir Dich herzlich bitten, Mamas Wunsch zu folgen und von Blumengrüßen abzusehen. Dein Beitrag in dieser Form hilft Mama genau so beizusetzen, wie sie es sich gewünscht hat und Organisationen zu unterstützen, die ihr wichtig waren.

A tree instead of flowers

On 02 October 2023 at 2:20 p.m. Magda Schäfer, our beloved wife, mum, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend, passed away from complications of a necessary heart valve operation at the Kassel Clinic. This loss weighs enormously heavy on our shoulders.

The only consolation we can find is in the knowledge that we held mum's hands, showered her with kisses and were able to accompany her on her final journey. She leaves behind a deep chasm filled with light and love.

This is the last photo of Magda during her lifetime from 24th September 2023. Here with Tina, Basti's friend from university days and a welcome guest in our family.

Our mum Magda always put the well-being of others first. She hardly noticed her own needs and if she did, there were often other priorities. Many people contacted us and expressed their deepest sympathy. Some said "She was a mother to many of us", others described her warm nature as "She embraced the world". For myself, many years ago, she gave me the extra dose of freedom that I needed by writing me in a letter "I don't care who you love, I only care that you love."

Many people share this tragic loss and our pain, and so we have a special idea.

To make a funeral entirely in her spirit, we would like to ask for your help.

Mum didn't want any drama, thought traditional funerals and burials were awful, and always said "I just want to be on the green meadow, or happily under an old tree." That's exactly what we want to make possible for her.

With your donation, we would like to:

1. make it possible for Mum to have a final resting place in the biotope RuheForst Kaufungen near Kassel. She will be buried in a biodegradable urn under an old oak tree. An old oak tree, just like her playground as a child, an attraction for many generations from our home in Langenfeld near Bad Salzungen.

2. if there is any money left over, the rest should be donated completely to a good cause, which is in the spirit of Magda's life with her big heart:

The organization Friedensdorf International - For many years she looked after children from war and crisis areas as a substitute mum during their hospital stays, visited them every day for months. But also the animal shelter in Beuern - Mum's heart was beating for all four-legged friends but especially for dogs.

The tree where mum will find her final resting place can be found with the help of an app. So you can also visit her. What could be better than a relaxing walk through an enchanted forest?

As it will not be possible to take flowers to the forest biotope for the funeral, we would like to ask you to follow Mum's wishes and refrain from sending flowers. Your contribution in this form will help to bury Mum exactly as she wished and to support organizations that were important to her.
