On New Year’s Day, 2024 our family suffered the unimaginable loss of our beloved mother, Maggie Guenin. Her sudden passing from a cardiac arrest has left a void in our family that we have not been able to grasp. Maggie was strong, she was independent, and she didn’t let societal norms define her for even a moment -- she was a force!
As a mother, Maggie’s love for her children -- her boys Eric and Brian, and her kids from another mother Joshea and Amber -- was boundless. To say she put her children first would be an understatement. She was the epitome of what a mother should be: nurturing and kind when we needed her love; wise and thoughtful when we needed her guidance; brave and strong when we needed her support; and most of all, an unwavering pillar in our lives.
Her love also extended beyond her children to her husband, Sean, to whom she was married to for 27 years.
Maggie was passionate about many things in her life:
- She was a dedicated educator who cared deeply about her students both in and outside of the classroom.
- She had compassion for all animals, but had a special place in her heart for dogs – especially Pitbull mixes like her fur babies Ginger and Gia (and she loved her cats too)
- She always made time for her friends and fostered long lasting bonds that often spanned decades.
- She was an avid fan of yoga, the arts, and particularly music -- Pink Floyd often filled our living room on lazy Saturday afternoons.
- She enjoyed traveling the world and had recently visited Spain, New York, and Tennessee to name a few.
- and nothing made her happier than spending time with her family - sister Lily and brother Jorge, niece Natalie and nephew Christopher, daughters in law Michelle and Elina, and especially her granddaughters Eloisa and June, whom she loved more than anything else in this world.
She will be missed more than words alone can express.
To the family, friends, students, and colleagues who have reached out with kindness and words of support, we thank you so much. If you would like to contribute, we will be using these funds to assist with medical bills and memorial costs.
Please keep Maggie in your hearts forever.
