Maggie’s Cancer Caring Trust
Hey, I’m Amelia - 2 years ago me and my twin lost our father to Stage 4 Bowel Cancer.
With the support of Maggie’s, my father was able to access support, advice and comfort when his world turned upside down.
Me and my father were 2 peas in a pod, both passionate about adventure, fuelled with ambition and we both shared this desperate desire to travel the world. He made everything into a song and opened the car door for me so I didn’t have to. He’d bring a cold flannel up to bed on the nights I felt ill and taught me everything I’d ever need to know to live a beautiful life without him with us. So, I thought it was about time I did something too!
5 months ago I put running trainers on for the first time and I haven’t really looked back since, so in a bid to raise money for such a valuable charity that doesn’t often get as much recognition, it’s time I smashed a half marathon!
In May, I’ll be running the Leeds Half Marathon, and any donations at all would be incredibly appreciated.
Dad, if you knew I was about to run 21km for you when you struggled to get me out of bed growing up, I think you’d be laughing - this is for you.
