Maggie’s Fight

Maggie is battling cancer for the 2nd time within a year. She fought cervical cancer and won back in March, but an aggressive form has returned in her abdomen. After a second surgery and seeking opinions from three different cancer specialists, she has been told that this type of cancer is sustainable, and difficult to cure – meaning this fight could go on for a long time. With this fight also comes medical expenses, travel expenses to and from Baylor Medical in Dallas and MD Anderson in Houston, and days missed from work for treatment and recovery time from chemo, which in turn means lost wages.  Although she has insurance, it does not cover all the medical costs, especially in extended treatment.  Maggie’s husband Raj is also impacted with his work helping to care for their three wonderful teenagers, Jackson, Piper and Eleanor.  

Maggie is one of those people who is a natural giver, always the first to offer comfort and encouragement--and follow through selflessly to help others.  Asking for help for herself is not natural or easy for her.  She is facing all this with her signature optimism, faith, courage and joy.  She lights up all our lives and often keeps us laughing through the process!  So we are asking for her.
