Magnetic Island Koala Hospital

Donation protected
Over the past 20 years the Magnetic Island Koala Hospital (a island off the coast of North QLD) has operated as a humble not-for-profit operation run by the islands local veterinary surgeon and her family (The Bee's).  The Bee's have been responsible for the care and rehabilitation for hundreds of injured and sick Koalas and other wildlife on the island out of their family home with the help of volunteers.

A team of dedicated volunteers have come together to support The Bee's and together we are looking to build on their amazing pro-bono work moving from the temporarily in-home care operation to an established best practise hospital facility to better treat the unique and thriving Koala colony on the island along with other sick and injured native animals in need of care including rock wallabies, reptiles and bird life.

With your help and donations we can move to breaking ground on the hospital which plans to commence development October this year.

The hospital facility will consist of a core surgical and intensive care unit for injured wildlife, enclosures for animal treatment and recovery prior to be released to the wild and a fenced protected rehabilitation area featuring roost trees along with a near by shared eucalyptus plantation providing the primary source of food for the patients.

The charity is also looking to develop public signage on road ways and other public areas on the island providing the contact number and other details for the hospital so sick and injured animals can be reported for rescue and hospitalisation.

The Bee's family have done such an amazing job over the past two decades to look after the Koala colony on the island and with your help we can continue this great work and support for our unique and precious Australian wildlife.

The Magnetic Island Koala Hospital and the work of The Bee's will also be a feature on the show Izzy's Koala World which broadcasts September on Netflix.

The Magnetic Island Koala Hospital is a registered charity (ABN 47 627 599 419).

This Go Fund Me page has been set up by Alisha de Graaf who is the daughter of Terry Byrne the Project Officer (volunteer) for  the Magnetic Island Koala and Wildlife Hospital. The Go Fund Me Page is also managed by Ali Bee who is the vet and current director of the charity and hospital.

The funds will be transferred directly to the charity and hospital to assist with covering costs for a new hospital venue on Magnetic Island. The funds will go towards purchasing of new medical equipment and supplies, potential property requirements and the development/building of the new hospital once this is underway.
