Magnus Berg Memorial Fund
My family and I are setting up this fund in honor of our beloved family member Magnus Berg. Magnus had been ill since 2020 but recently took a turn for the worse and passed away peacefully in hospice on June 25, 2021. His presence is already missed tremendously.
Magnus had a smile that filled up the room. He gave the biggest hugs and had such a gentle demeanor. He helped anyone who needed it – no question. He married the love of his life Patricia in 1983 and then said goodbye to her in 2019. Together they raised two beautiful daughters Krista and Kailee.
The last several years were extremely difficult for him. Due to years of construction work his knees and legs could not do the work his electrical supervisor job demanded and he was forced to stop working. The company deemed it ‘terminated for cause’ which in our great state of North Carolina meant he could not get unemployment benefits. So now, he is a widower, disabled, out of work, and has a house, bills and a daughter who depended on him at home. The Johnston County social security group denied him social security disability, medicaid and food stamps.
Krista, after years of caring for her mother, went back to work but it was a struggle on her salary. Finally, after 22 months, obtaining an attorney, and fighting tooth and nail, he finally began receiving some of the benefits that the county, state and federal entities had denied him. He was able to keep the home and all the things he'd worked so hard for. The government still owes him a lot of money, back social security and the like, but doubt they will ever see a dime now.
Magnus was the kindness man and didn't deserve any of this grief. So now he is gone, finally free from the pain, but now leaves his daughters to carry on. This money will help with funeral expenses and the celebration of life his daughter promised him. Please consider helping us. God Bless You and God Bless Magnus. Rest in peace with your beloved wife and family.
