Magnus' Funeral Fund

UPDATE - October 23 2024

I am devastated to be reaching out to let everyone know that Magnus has lost his battle with FIP. After 84 days of treatment, on the day he was meant to enter observation, he had a heart episode.

When his bloodwork came back, it showed that he had deteriorated severely. His major organs are shutting down, and his heart is failing.

I want to thank everyone who has been a part of this journey. FIP treatment is real, important, and saves lives. Not every story is Magnus', and it is extremely horrible that his has ended like this.

His treatment bought him time. He had so so so many treats, all the loves, and has had a golden hour without pain. But now it's time to say goodbye.

This fund is being converted to help rescue us from vet bills, and support the cost of his end-of-life services.

There aren't any out there as special as he is,

You'll always be my Bean, Magnus Chase Burnsides

We are living in a nightmare.

A week ago, we took our 7-year-old cat Magnus to urgent care for a sudden eye infection. We were sent home with some ointment and things were looking up. His eye got better, his fever went away, and he was back to his busy self.

This morning, on July 30, I woke up to call the kitties to breakfast, and Magnus didn't come. I went into the room and he was still tucked in bed. This is not at all like him, so I decided to give him a quick temp check. He had a fever of 106 degrees. I immediately slipped him into his carrier and rushed to the urgent care.

After hours of waiting, blood test results came back with FIP. This disease is a mutation of a common cat illness, and up until very recently, it was a death sentence. While there are some treatment options now, they aren't easy to access, and they are extremely expensive. The chances of survival on the medication are high if acted on quickly, but we are pretty limited, seeing as we are already 900 dollars in vet bills from the past two weeks.

Magnus is my four-year-old son's best friend. He is the best cat, and my youngest fur kiddo. I rescued him out of a dumpster in December 2017, and stayed up all night holding his half-frozen, five-week-old body begging him to make it. He's too young to die, and I am going to do everything I can without making him suffer to get him well.

However, treatment for FIP can cost up to 4k just for the medications, and he will need regular bloodwork and checkups to ensure he is actually recovering.

This family won't be the same without him. He deserves a chance, and we can't do it alone.

Thank you so much, anyone who is able to help. This has been the longest day, and I know the weeks ahead aren't going to be easier.
