Magruder Shooting Victim Needs Your Help

On January 21, 2022, fifteen-year-old DeAndre Thomas, a student at Colonel Zadok Magruder High School was shot and seriously injured by a fellow student with a ghost gun.
DeAndre was taken by ambulance to Suburban Hospital with a bullet still lodged in his left hip, severed his left iliac vein (causing him to lose 3.5 liters of blood on the operating table), and destroyed part of his lower intestine. DeAndre only barely survived an extended ICU stay with prolonged intubation, sepsis, renal failure, and has undergone ten surgeries until his wound was finally able to be closed on February 23, 2022. During the course of this admission, DeAndre developed stage 3 pressure sores and lost 28% of his body weight.
DeAndre is very fortunate to have survived and be back at school, but he and his family are continuing to suffer a significant financial toll as well as a physical and emotional one. The Thomas family faces tens of thousands in medical bills unpaid by health insurance, and tens of thousands in lost income due to his (single) mother having to take off many months from work to take care of her child.
Please help the Thomas Family at this difficult time as DeAndre Thomas struggles to get back to a normal life.
