Mahopac Lions and Leos patio donation for Lucas

Meet Lucas Caniff, a vivacious young person who’s entering third grade this fall. The Mahopac Lions+Leos learned about Lucas from frequent collaborator and community volunteer Jim Rathschmidt who thought we could help.

Because Lucas uses a wheelchair, he has difficulty accessing the tables outside his school currently placed in the grass. The addition of an accessible table along with a paved patio surface would afford Lucas—and all students in the future who may benefit—easier access to the area just like his classmates without disabilities.

As a gift to the school, Mahopac Lions+Leos will volunteer to supply the labor for the installation. We hope the community will help with the funding for the supplies needed to build the paved patio surface.

And time is of the essence. The installation is scheduled for August 19—in time for the start of the school year. Please consider helping us give Lucas a seat at the table alongside his classmates. No donation is too small. Thank you!
