Mai Xee Yang Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Soua and I am Mai Xee's younger sister. I am fundraising money to assist with funeral expenses. The love my family and I have received in the last few days have been incredibly comforting. We ask that you take a little time to read her story and contribute to the last final days we will be sharing with her. We understand that during this pandemic, everyone is struggling. If you are unable to contribute, please share her story and spread our words.

We invite you to join us in celebration of her life on Sunday, February 13, 2022. The Funeral Home address is: 215 E Thomas Street, Wausau, WI 54401. We hope to see you there.

From our family to yours, stay safe.

For as long as I can remember, Mai Xee has always been an inspiration to me. I remember feeling beautiful for the first time when she gave me my first trendy haircut. She was also the first person to teach me how to groom my eyebrows and do my makeup. I would always raid her closet and steal everything in sight because she always had the trendiest clothing. In my eyes, she was super cool.

It was in late 2009 when my relationship with her flipped. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She started taking a lot of medications and almost seemed like an entirely new person. I went from being the younger sister to becoming the older sister. She slept a lot in those beginning stages of her diagnosis. I wasn't around much because it was the first year of college for me but I remember the family meetings and the constant fear of losing her then. She was fighting an internal battle none of us could help with. We stood by her side as she fought her battles.

Some days are better than others but what I can tell you is that Mai Xee has always been a fighter. She became better and started living a life she wanted. One random morning she called and said that she was enrolling in college and wanted to walk in my footsteps. I remember she would cry to me and tell me that everyone always doubted her but she never let that stop her. She fought through anyways. Our relationship never returned to what it used to be, but I am thankful for the love we have for each other.

Although I am her younger sister by birth order, I will forever love her as she was my younger sister. If you know me, I have an addiction for Starbucks and Mai Xee has always known me so well. Every time I visited, she would ask for a Starbucks drink and every time I gave it to her, she would light up. You know that quote that people always say, "it's the little things...". Yeah, that's her...

She was always ALL THE LITTLE THINGS!
She lit up when you buy her a drink or food and would say, "For me?"
She would thank you for cooking her her favorite meal.
She would wait for you by the doorsteps for you to come home.
She called and texted every single day.
She smiled just because you were present.

She has the biggest heart. She was never going to let you leave her presence without you knowing that you were loved by her. AND she gave the BEST hugs.

So, in memory of her, remember to hug your loved ones a little longer today, and remind them that you love them. Life's too short.
