Maida Rabassa Funeral Services Help
Donation protected
This fundraiser has been established to help with funeral arrangements for my sister Maida Rabassa. My name is Roberto Rabassa and I am the eldest of Maida's siblings. Our sister Maida unexpectedly died this past Sunday January 4, 2015 at approximately 4:24 p.m. My brothers and her two children were faced with the most difficult decision any family will ever have to make and that was to give the ok for the medical staff to stop all life-support systems.
On Saturday evening, Maida was enjoying dinner at her home with her boyfriend and she had just sat down to eat when she began to choke. Her boyfriend called 911 but by the time help had arrived she was already unconscious and was in cardiac arrest. The paramedics revived her and she was rushed to the emergency room at Hartford Hospital.
While there they discovered that even though the paramedics had intubated her she was still not getting enough oxygen. We were given the bad news that although still alive the severe lack of oxygen had left her brain dead. Later that morning, after countless attempts to keep her alive, her organs were failing and we as a family had to make the horrific choice to stop life-support and watch as our loved one went flatline on the monitor.
This was such an unexpected death and because we just burried our Mother only 10 months ago this past February, we find ourselves very short on funds to give our sister a respectful and deserving funeral. Our family is asking for your help with any contributions so that we can make that possible.
My sister Maida, just like our mother Brunilda, was a very giving and compassionate human being. Even in death she was able to help others by being an organ/tissue donor to the Life Choice organization in which she was able to give the gift of vision and new skin to burn victims.
Every single penny you donate will go towards her funeral arrangements; that is a promise I will keep in honor of her name. Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read this and for all your help and contributions.
