Maiden High School Marching Band Uniform Drive
Donation protected
Dear Supporter,
Get to know the band:
The students in the band program are very dedicated to what they do. The Marching Blue Devils season starts on July 25, 2022, with two full weeks of band camp. Then they transition to evening practices until late August. Once the school year has started, they have after school practices on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. They also spend a lot of time at the school preparing the props and other visual design elements for the field show. Our schedule is hectic and diverse. We participate in all of the football games, showing our school spirit and the support of our team. For home games, this includes performing our field show at half-time. We start our competition season on September 24, 2022, with the competition we host at Maiden High School. The competition is an all-day event and draws in participants and spectators from our surrounding counties of Catawba, Lincoln, Gaston, Burke, Mecklenburg, and Iredell, as well as several bands from further away. Our season continues from there, running through November 5, 2022. We travel to local competitions as well as further away to West Virginia, Virginia, and South Carolina. These competitions last all day, and the students come to the school 2-3 hours before to do a couple of practice runs of the show to work out any problem areas.
As you can imagine, our uniforms must be durable to meet this rigorous schedule. The life expectancy of a quality band uniform is 10 years. The uniforms we are currently using are 14 years old and could not be worn last school year due to their condition.
The first phase of our uniform drive successfully raised the $25,000 needed to purchase new jackets, gauntlets, shako wraps, capes, and plumes. Now we are asking you to help us with the second phase of our uniform drive to purchase new bibs, shakos and shako boxes.
Please consider supporting our Marching Blue Devils reach their goal of marching on the field at Thomas E. Brown Stadium on September 24, 2022 in new Marching Band Uniforms designed by our very own rising Senior Mason Brown.
