Maigan-Ajik Playground
Donation protected
We, the community of Maigan-Ajik are raising funds to help build a community playground for our children. Given the fact that we live off the grid and isolated, our children tend to feel deserted. Having a place to play will really lift their spirits and improve their mental health. It will also benefit the community as a whole.
Background
We are a Community residing within the Algonquin unceded territory, located 90 kilometers north of Maniwaki. We have resided in our community since 1996, living off the land. There are approximately 17 houses in Maigan-Ajik, 13 whom are fully occupied by families all year round. there is roughly 20 children residing in the community, and more who come around to visit. We don't have the luxuries of running water, proper electrification or plumbing for that matter. We get our water at a spring nearby. Our main source of power is a small generator we purchased individually. Band support is limited to use due to the fact that we live off reserve. Therefor, we are asking the general public to ease some of the financial burdens we face. Megwetc!
