Mailyn’s Appalachian Hike

Inspiration presents itself to us in many ways. I’m reminded daily of this by my daughters. My youngest daughter Mailyn graduated from Grand Valley State University a semester early, and before moving on to graduate school, in order to complete her thru hike of The Appalachian Trail.

Beginning in March, this ambitious and life enhancing backpacking trek is a 6 month endeavor that will take Mailyn through 14 states from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine.

I’ve created this go fund me so that Mailyn, when passing through towns along the trail will have the occasional opportunity to stay at a hostel or hotel, shower, restock supplies, clean equipment and other necessities. These periodic stops have an incredible impact on morale and confidence.

No one has higher expectations for Mailyn than herself, proven by her hard work and determination. Through support from family, friends and others she will accomplish her goal of thru hiking The Appalachian Trail.
