Maine Cannabis Coalition Activist Fund
1. We are The United Cannabis Patients and Caregivers of Maine aka "The Maine Cannabis Coalition"
2. We are raising funds for our non-profit organization's goal to protect and support patients, caregivers and Maine's Cannabis programs.
The out of state owned corrupt corporate cannabis scum have continually used Maine's state government as a weapon to hold back local small medical marijuana businesses for over a decade. Through high caliber lobbyists, lawyers, political ties and funding that comes from Wallstreet, they have caused significant damage and destruction to our small business sales numbers, our job growth, our state economy and overall the state's best interests. It should be illegal and no state should ever have to deal with a government sponsored corporate takeover attempt!!! We are sick of this crap...........please join us and help us together speak up and make change!
Medical Marijuana is now Maine's 2nd biggest commodity only behind lobster. We went from 385 caregiver employees in 2018 to 4,500 in 2020.........In 2018 we had under $30 million in industry reported sales to $266 million in 2020.........45,000 patients in 2018 to 96,000 patients in 2020 and we have become the East Coast's favorite state to visit for medical marijuana medicine. This didn't happen by accident it happened because some pissed off people like myself got together and wrote a damn bill or 2 (LD 1539 + 238). And since we have fought tooth and nail to make the changes that needed to happen to open the flood gates to a free marketplace with fair and equal opportunity for Mainer's no matter your net $ worth or your last name.
There is a strong movement in the corporate lobbying teams playbook to make medical use laws, rules and regulations identical to adult use. This is destructive intentionally and by design along with the current proposed rules. We need a active team in Augusta looking out for us daily.
Today the Maine Cannabis Coalition is proud to announce our new lobbying team:
Former state Representative/Senator/Sheriff: Mark Dion (Democrat)
**Mark sat on the Adult Use Marijuana Implementation Committee and knows our cannabis laws well.....he also was a gubernatorial candidate in 2018**
Former House Minority Leader Ken Fredette (Republican)
**Ken has held strong leadership positions with the republican party and is well known and respected with the party members. **
Along with Ken and Mark will of course be me (Dawson). We are here to basically kick ass and take numbers but on the side we will be working in a organized structured fashion to pass some really good bills we wrote with the help of some really good Representatives and Senators that support our local's 1st cause!!!
The Bill List :
Legislative Bill Introduced
#1 Remove lobbyists from marijuana advisory commission and require that anyone who is employed by OMP may not work in the cannabis industry or as a lobbyist for 2 years after leaving OMP. (LR 1592)
#2 Bring plant count to a max of 60 flowering plants per caregiver and allow for 1,500 sq ft unlimited plants instead of 500 sq ft. (LR 1470)
#3 Remove collective restriction for caregivers (LR 1276)
#4 Fix advertising/logo issue and not allow OMP to punish in any way including threat of license revocation in the event a caregiver chooses to appeal a violation or violation warning (LR 1241)
#5 TBA .....its gonna be good!!!!
In addition to fighting to pass these bills we will also be fighting to pass other industry friendly bills, fighting to not pass bad bills, and fighting the very, very bad proposed rules.
Today we are asking for everyone in the cannabis community to please stand up and help support our efforts and agenda. We are in need of funding to accomplish our new goals. Every dollar counts! All donations are very much appreciated, no matter what the amount. Other than our part time secretary we have zero administrative costs to operate. As a result, nearly every dollar you donate goes to the cause funding: lobbyists, legal team, a video cannabis corruption educational project, website expansion, coalition product line, and "locally owned and grown" certification project.
We are still fighting in court and will be announcing a public meeting and protest date in the near future where we will talk strategy and update everyone about what is going on. Please help us spread the word and share this fundraiser. We appreciate any help we can get. We will be updating everyone as we go and thanks very much for your support!!!
