MaineStreet is and has been the heart of the LGBTQ + community for 20 years. They have raised thousands of dollars for various charities, such as the hugely popular Broadway Gives back, Frannie Peabody Center and one of the biggest events being the HARBOR TO THE BAY bike ride, and many more. MaineStreet also opens their doors every December to THE SPIRIT OF GIVING Committee that provides Christmas gifts for over 600 underprivileged kids. Mainestreet has always been there for our community, I am asking you to be a little generous and be there for Mainestreet. Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart! Please take a couple of minutes to read below.
2020, a year that had so much promise, a year that Mainestreet Ogunquit was supposed to celebrate their 20th anniversary. How fast things can change in this world and now MaineStreet Ogunquit needs your help to get through this next phase of our COVID-19 world.
As you probably already know, MaineStreet will be closing its doors for the winter for the first time in its 20-year history. Sunday, October 11th will be their last day and they are anticipating to be closed through April 2021 marking the 2nd time for a lengthy shutdown due to this pandemic within the year. This is something that has never been done before.
Although Mainestreet will be closed, their bills still need to get paid and the 2021 planning still must continue in order for them to be ready to open at any time the guidelines allow. I realize this pandemic has been hard on everyone but Mainestreet holds a special place in my heart as well as the hearts of the local Ogunquit business community, the local residents and the thousands of visitors they typically get every season. Last March, MaineStreet was the first business in town to shut down and the last to re- open when local regulations allowed outdoor service. The ownership team put a lot of time, effort, and money into making the outdoor space as safe as possible while following all local and state regulations. The fact is, they struggled hard with being limited to outside seating only with limited entertainment. All who came and supported us these last few very short months will never be forgotten and are truly appreciate, but I am asking you to reach into your pockets and help them get through the winter so that they can provide you with the service and entertainment you expect from Mainestreet in 2021.
This is my 10th year with Mainstreet, and I cannot imagine a world without this amazing space, people, friends and family. No donation is too small, none too big. All will be appreciated greatly by the dedicated team at Mainestreet. New England and Ogunquit needs Mainestreet to prevail from this pandemic, and I am asking for your help to ensure its success. In return for your generosity, for all donations of $100 or more, I will be inviting you to a special VIP pre-party for Mainestreet's 21st anniversary party in 2021 which will include an open bar and entertainment.
From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!
