Help Barry and his family fight Motor Neurone Disease(ALS)

Hi my name is Millissa and I'm one of Holly and Barry's closest friends. A lot of you may not know this and it may be hard to hear but here is the reason for this JustGiving page:
Help Barry and His Family Fight Motor Neurone Disease (ALS)
On November 13, 2024, our world turned upside down. Barry, just 45 years old, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (ALS) and given a life expectancy of two years. This devastating news has shaken their family, including their children, the youngest of whom is only 9 years old.
Barry is the heart of his family—a hardworking pipe fitter who has always provided for them. But ALS has forced him to give up his job, leaving him feeling helpless and heartbroken. The symptoms began a few months ago with restless leg syndrome, then progressed to leg weakness, hand tremors, and falls that became impossible to ignore. After an EMG and consultations with a neurologist, the diagnosis was confirmed.
Barry has been prescribed Riluzole, but as we all know, there is no cure for ALS. Despite this, we are determined to fight for every extra day we can get with him. We are researching clinical trials, treatments, and disability aids to make his life as comfortable and fulfilling as possible.
Barry has always been a hands-on dad, devoted to his family, and he feels terrible about not being able to support them in the way he used to. It’s incredibly hard for him to ask for help, but we’re reaching out now because we can’t face this journey alone.
We’re raising funds to:
• Explore clinical trials and treatments to prolong Barry’s life.
• Purchase vital disability aids to help him maintain his independence and dignity.
• Provide for his family during this difficult time, as Barry can no longer work.
This diagnosis has been a devastating blow, but we are inspired by stories like Rob Burrow’s, which remind us of the power of community and hope. If you can support us, whether by donating or sharing our story, it would mean the world to their family.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of this fight with us.
