Maintain Sand Hill Cemetery
Donation protected
The Old Sand Hill Cemetery dates back to the Revolutionary War and was the very first cemetery in what is known today as the Village of Fort Plain. It was closed at a max of 300 people in a 3-acre lot. Most of the people Buried where relocated to the current cemetery in the Village of Fort Plain when the NYS Thruway was build in the 1950’s. From there it was forgotten until the summer of 2019 where an Eagle Scout, Kaleb Horning, refurbished it for his Eagle Scout Service Project. Now since he did his project the cemetery needs to be maintained and there is no money source. All profits will be going towards maintaining the cemetery along with the path that connects the cemetery to Route 5s. Let’s help maintain a great piece of history. Thank you all that have donated.
