Maisie’s Surgery Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Howdy! My name is Maisie and I am a 26-year-old trans woman fundraising for financial support after surgery.
I've been dealing with dysphoria around my body for a long time, and feel confident that getting what's commonly referred to as "bottom surgery" would alleviate that. In October I was fortunate enough to access top surgery as a gender-affirming procedure and the impact it has had on me, and the dysphoria I feel, has been drastic.
I currently have bottom surgery scheduled for the first week of April at Johns Hopkins and am making plans for my recovery. I am extremely fortunate to be in a position where the procedure and hospital stay would be covered through my employer's insurance. I can take a short amount of PTO but the majority of it had been expended while recovering from surgery in October. That is why I am looking for help covering the wages I would miss in the weeks following surgery.
Recovery following this procedure is 6-8 weeks off work. I am looking to cover a difference of about 5 weeks out of work. With that in mind, I have set my goal at $3,000. Anything beyond that amount would be used to help support the queer and trans people in my life as they support me, and any unexpected medical costs I may incur.
I am working to save as preparation for this time off work, and looking for grants to gain additional support, but your contribution would help alleviate stress around this milestone in my life. Every bit helps ensure a stress-free recovery, and I am deeply grateful for your consideration and help.
